Minutes

Approve March Minutes:  Approved

Liaison Reports and Updates:

Administration: Reminders:  Benefit Choice period May 1 – May 31, 2023.  The COVID paid Leave ends May 11, 2023.

Administrative Council:

  • There was a discussion to consider removing the Library lactation space from the campus-wide listing. This space is Room 450J and it is used for more than a lactation space.  It is also used for library employees specific OAE needs.  AC approved removing the space from the campus-wide listing.  Currently, there are conversations going on about having a specific patron-facing lactation room in the Main Library, to be discussed with the new Dean.
  • Heather Murphy and John Laskowski request an Internal Marketing Group to create and maintain a portfolio of internal signage, templates, maps, and other informational and wayfinding resources in alignment with campus branding and University Library standards. AC was supportive, however, there were some concerns about too many signs or too many negative signs (such as saying what not to do).  John replied that they will be more user-focused and welcoming.  Heather will be figuring out how units/colleagues can provide feedback, whether it will be a call out on a regular basis or getting a ticketing system going.

Arts & Humanities:  Guest: Jen Yu gave an overview of Lib Insight. Mary Ton talked about Digital Huminites.

Central Public Services:  Guest:  Jen Yu gave information on Lib Insight.  A lot of employees are interested in this at CPS.  Getting ready for the Math closure.

Life Sciences:  Guest: Jen Yu gave an overview of Lib Insight. Susan Braxton retired last Friday, talked about filling the position; talked about reading day, and moving forward.

Physical Sciences:  Guest: Jen Yu gave an administrative perspective on Lib Insight.  Training sessions will be in May and June.  Math Library will be closed for three years for renovations.  Staff will be moving to Grainger during that time.

Res Hall:  We had a Trivia Night event for National Library Week that was very successful.  There were 37 attendees and it was funded by the Central Residential Funding Board.

We are working with Maria Emerson and some of her staff to hold our Build-a-Book events at ISR and IKE libraries today.  The ISR event is from 12-2 and the IKE event is from 3-5 pm.

We will have reduced hours for Finals Week.  Both locations will be open M-F, 12-5 pm.

For the summer our IKE location will be open during June and July, M-F from 10 am-2 pm.  We will be closed at the end of June because Laura and I were given funding to attend the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.  We are waiting on the budget for next year.  We hope that we will have the information by the end of July so we can determine our hours for next year and schedule clerk shifts.

Social Sciences: Guest: Jen Yu gave information on Lib Insight.

SSHEL – Tom Teper reaching out for Social Science Division to use end of the year funds- he had noted Social Sciences had not made a request to  purchase from desiderata list in a long time.

Special Collections:  Did not meet.  Building project – delay opening until Fall of 2025.

Technical Services:  Did not meet.  CMS is getting ready for the Math Library move, hiring students for the move, transferring books to first floor.
