Minutes

1. Library Assessment Updates

  • Sweeps week is the week after Spring Break (March 21-27)
  • Library Service Satisfaction Survey is tentatively scheduled March 21-April 11
  • ACRL/IPEDS/ARL submissions are ongoing
  • Unizin campus visit and demo upcoming
    • In consideration now that Canvas is implemented
    • Jen will share more information with LAC as it comes available
  • 82 platforms now have operational SUSHI stats in Alma Analytics
    • Access pre-built report through Analytics > UIUC Community folders > Amy’s folder

2. LibInsight Demo and Feedback

  • Belinda gave a screen share tour of “record data” function for current datasets:
    • Reference
    • Instruction
    • UGL Gate Count
    • SSHEL Gate Count
  • Some highlights:
    • Individual as well as unit accounts to LibInsight will be available
    • LibInsight does allow bulk uploading
  • Discussion:
    • Data cleaning is needed during transition to ensure consistency and efficiency over multiple forms/datasets
    • Suggestion of a survey to collect feedback on what data is needed and what data will be used for
    • Many changes are happening this summer (UGL close, SSHEL collection move, etc.) so want to delay system transition
      • Ideal timeline is to renew Desk Tracker for a year and also get a limited license of LibInsight for a year to start transition
  • Trial currently ends on March 15, but Jen has requested an extension until the end of March (pending)
    • Teaching & Learning Task Force and Reference also are in the process of giving feedback on these forms
    • Questions and thoughts about the transition are welcome; send to Jen

3. LAC 2021-2022 Committee Project

  • Discussion of potential alternatives to the open forum in April (which has mixed feedback):
    • May as a possibility for a forum
      • Summer would be too late though: most people are focused on research/next year prep/conferences; also GAs would miss out on opportunity to attend
    • Have a series of Community of Practice (CoP) meetings, invite experts to speak to committee and library community about a dataset
      • Similar to Hub Trainings
    • There is still an interest in learning more about data involved in collection assessment, but not sure if forum is the right learning environment (as opposed to one-on-one)
      • Can be very difficult (for new employees especially) to learn what data is collected, where to find data, and how to read data

4. Streamlining Library internal grant application processes

  • Will be discussed in next LAC meeting
