- Now live: https://www.library.illinois.edu/staff/administration/strategicplanning/
- Two additional office hours were scheduled
- Relationship of strategic framework (directions and priorities) and division reports (SOAR analysis)
- For the divisional reports, pull data that currently exist or collect new only if it will inform this process.
- Once our reports are complete, our role with this team is done. It’s up to EC to decide on next steps.
- Clara and Merinda will use the divisional reports to draft something similar to the current strategic framework.
- Documenting weaknesses/threats can be included (though they are not part of the SOAR framework) if they surface in division discussions.
- Some cross-cutting service areas can be discussed in various/all divisions (e.g. RDS). Whatever your division/group of people think should be include then the division SOAR. This is important for Clara and Merinda to pull themes.
- Flow chart of SP Process
- Nine division SOAR reports > Co-chairs will pull together a draft document similar to the 2-page SF (2015) > submit final draft 2-page to EC > retreat exercises with whole library > EC considers retreat input and finalizes 2-page SF
- Factors to consider: Engage your division to tie your ideas to library issues/themes, campus environment, and external environment
- Library-wide issues/themes
- Building Project – if you need someone to come to your division to talk about the building project let Clara and Merinda know
- Student Success
- Faculty Research – Don’t forget our research in information sciences – many of us have gathered data that could inform decision-making process
- Campus environment- Cross-cutting issues/themes: diversity, globalization, etc. (From the Campus Strategic Plan: Art strategy; Data science; Diversity; Energy and Sustainability; Food Security; Globalization; Health Sciences; Humanities; Public Engagement; Social Sciences; Undergraduate Education)
- External environment, library trends (see: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l7veU-tHP8QWusHC0LcdQumvCI1LkEhB-6T2S3CrS64/edit?usp=sharing)
- Library-wide data and reports available for consideration (Jen)
- Unit annual reports https://www.library.illinois.edu/staff/administration/services/annualreports/
- Data for unit annual reports are in G:\Annual Report Stats
- Campus-wide user surveys https://www.library.illinois.edu/staff/assessment/libsurv/

- Campus is going to focus more on metrics and quantitative data under the new budget model. For consideration, what training/education the library needs to have for that?
- There may be additional resources that should be considered – please bring to the group should you come across additional examples
- Division approaches and data to be examined including existing and needed. NOTE: Please come prepared to discuss with the group what data you are planning to consult and if you might need assistance with a survey or focus groups. Most divisions seems to have started this conversation and were advised to ask for help as needed.
