c. Propose: Treasurer: The duties include keeping track of the scholarship funds and provide regular reports to the committee (discuss further at August meeting)
Bylaws: Officers: Election Procedure and Duties (discuss updates at August meeting)
Officers are elected at the first meeting of the new committee and, if necessary, offices can be shared. The election is won by a majority vote.

Chair: The duties of the Chair include chairing the meetings and providing an agenda.

Vice-Chair: The duties include taking the Chair’s place in the event of an absence and making the appropriate room reservations. The Vice-Chair also serves as treasurer.

Approve June Minutes: Approved

Library Council Implementation Team (LCIT) presented the Library Council proposal for new inclusive governance committee – Kelli Trei, Eric Chapman, Dulcie Vermillion – and received feedback from LSSC.

Election Voting:
Nominate: Dulcie Vermillion – chair
Nominate: Karen Huck – vice chair
Nominate: Kristen Blankenship – treasurer
• All LSSC members in favor and motion seconded that the above are the new officers with the exception that the role of treasurer needs to be changed in the Bylaws and approved by the Civil Service Library employees.
• Dulcie Vermillion will send the email to vote for the change.
Liaison Reports and Updates:
Administration: Be sure to read the mass email received on Tuesday with the Fall COVID-19 guidelines. If you test positive for COVID, email Skye. Reminder that there is no longer contact tracing.

Administrative Council: Did not meet.

Area Studies: Discussed the Library Council Implementation Team proposal (new council, role, etc.) and how LC will work. There will be interviews for the Mortenson position in August and there is a Chinese Studies Librarian vacancy.

Arts & Humanities: Discussed collection development, getting more ProQuest items, looking at trying to diversify where books are coming from.
Central Public Services: Desk Tracker will be migrated to a new system through Springshare called LibInsights in Summer of 2023.
Physical Sciences:
Math & Grainger: Grainger – Megan Johnson leaving. Open 24 hours M-F, Hired Dirk Ton.
Res Hall: Summer weeding project, sent over to oak street. We can start spending the grant money, getting ready for the fall.
Social Studies: Did not meet.

Special Collections: Did not meet.

Technical Services: Did not meet.

• Robert Howerton Scholarship draft updates – Additional questions came up, waiting for clarification before finalizing.
• Brown bag postponed ALA & RFS reschedule for sept

i. Security issues – same amount of time if call 911, should there be an emergency situation, spend same amount of $ . Budget concerns – is why they do not have security anymore.
ii. Can we request campus police walk through once or twice in evening?

• Prefer more civil service hired if take same amount of time if call 911.
