  1. Develop Strategic Plan and Goals for the Advisory Group (CW to talk to JPW about this)
  • Strategic Plan – Purpose of this committee? What is the scope?  Short term/long term?

      • Charge – The Library Accessibility Advisory Group provides advice on universal accessibility and the design of services and spaces that are welcoming to users with disabilities in the University Library. The Group should provide broad, diverse, and innovative viewpoints on current issues as well as future directions.
    • Develop goals and mission for this advisory group.

  1. Creating a policy around accessibility and events / Develop standard event language  (Discussed at beginning of meeting)
  • Sarah Christensen and JJ will work together on developing language for the library
  • E-Week has general accommodation statements. Also, info available when sending requests to e-Week.
  • Public Affairs, ODEA, FCAA, PR web pages have standard language and links planning acceptable events.

 

  1. Creating a training program around assistive technology (waiting on room and space to be defined)
  • Campus architects and state must review plans to move forward for 1st floor project

 

  1. Developing a library assessment program around accessibility of our libraries (JJ is doing this through her grant)
  • Development library assessment program – waiting to talk to JJ may be working on through grant.

 

  • Survey – DRES – what students are using to help develop the 1st floor of the Main Library
  • More input than DRES for this group – adding call-in component to meetings, changing the frequency of meetings? Who are the partners for this group besides DRES?
  • Broaden input – different perspectives – Technology and Accessibility
    • Residential libraries? – Is under housing, but may be a collaborator?
    • Beckwith – teletutoring
