Minutes

  1. 10:30-11:15am Collections discussion
  • Discuss autoship plan for LSD with Lynn Wiley and George Gottschalk (See email that Sarah forwarded on 1/24/2018)
  1. History:
    1. The approval fund exists to protect our ability to buy new books regardless of serial inflation.
    2. When we get to April many in the humanities move monies into approval because of extra time.
    3. For autoship acquisitions pulled information on high use publishers and low use publishers.
    4. We can now buy ebook packages with our approval money and they encourage us to do so.
  2. Lynn’s thoughts:
    1. Won’t be many agree to autoship, but probably can drop certain publishers (e.g. NOVA)
      1. Can drop completely and it will not be patron driven
    2. More on patron-driven.
    3. BTAA is looking at sharing print buying.
      1. Possibly Cambridge as test case.
    4. Looking at divisional autoships
      1. We would all have to agree on publishers, then can drill down into subject LC
  3. Q’s from Us:
    1. How would the money come out of funds?
      1. Funds would pay based on LC codes on autoship
      2. Lynn will set aside extra money so that if we went over, we could still access those titles.
    2. What is time frame of data
      1. last 6 years
    3. What is we need something fast and order via firm?
      1. It’s dynamic so we will not buy it twice and autoship will recognize we have already purchased it.
    4. Next Steps:
      1. Look at publishers
        1. As Division have to choose publishers
          1. Have to choose LC ranges based on subject fund (could have overlap-must choose fund)
          2. Can granularly choose TYPE of material (research recommended etc.)
        2. What publishers could be removed
          1. This would be WIDELY applied to all divisions
        3. What publishers should be patron driven
  1. Approval of 12/13 minutes (taken by Erin)
    1. Approved unanimously.
  1. College of Medicine update – Kelli, Erin, Peg, Ryan
    1. Ryan’s move to Grainger has yet to be settled.
  2. Committee assignments and reports – AC, CDC, others
    1. RMT – There will be assessment forum, ½ day before Spring Break
