Minutes

  1. Annual Unit ReportThe report was approved with some changes. Public engagement activities will be added to “ Highlights .” Also, if a unit had a particularly exciting development over the past year and wants to write in more detail about it, they can attach it as an addendum to the report or send it to Paula in a separate document.

Jon Gorman will look at what is required for ARL statistics and see which of the statistics Voyager can provide. Tom Teper and Tina Chrzastowski will look at Preservation statistics and see if those can be simplified in any way.

Bob Burger will check with Library HR to see if they will be able to provide the information for IV under Direct Services (Personnel).

I and II under Direct Services can be supplied by Lisa Hinchliffe, who keeps a database of this information.

The rationale for having the annual report is Paula reads them, they provide a history of the unit, they can be used in recruitment and transition, and it’s worthwhile to look at other units annual reports. Some people use them as staff morale boosters, showing them all that has been accomplished in the past year.

  2. Presence in the Library After HoursThe policy was approved as updated based on input from the Executive Committee. The policy will be posted on the Services webpage.
  3. AnnouncementsPaula Kaufman – A new provost has been hired, Linda Katehi, who is currently the Dean of Engineering at Purdue. She will start on April 1.

Kathleen Conlin has stepped down as the Dean of Fine and Applied Arts.

Lynn Wiley – What’s the update on the ID badges for Library personnel? Jeff Schrader and Tom Teper are working on it.

Could Cindy Kelly send out an update regarding job audits?

Bob Burger – AFSCME 698 is still in negotiations, although they don’t meet in December. They hope to get to monetary issues in January. They have a new President as Gregg Homerding has stepped down. Margaret Lewis is the chief steward now.
