&#8220;Pogo Studio: Capturing the Sounds of the Champaign-Urbana Music Scene&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4410\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4410\" style=\"width: 177px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/sousa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/05\/Mark-Rubel-1982.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4410\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/sousa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/05\/Mark-Rubel-1982-177x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/sousa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/05\/Mark-Rubel-1982-177x300.jpg 177w, https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/sousa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2024\/05\/Mark-Rubel-1982.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 177px) 100vw, 177px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4410\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mark Rubel performing on his Steinberger electric bass, 1982.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pogo Studio was established in downtown Champaign, IL, in 1985 and quickly earned local, regional and national recognition for its finely crafted recordings and its owner\u2019s easy-going nature.\u00a0 The studio remained a fixture of the community\u2019s music scene and a valuable resource for regional recording artists for nearly thirty years.\u00a0 During the early 1980s its founder, Mark Rubel, developed his audio engineering and production expertise while working at the University of Illinois\u2019 Experimental Music Studios and the Faithful Sound recording studio which was located in Urbana, IL.\u00a0 As an active performing bass guitarist, an employee of the talent agency, Blytham Ltd., and project chair for the Champaign County Arts Council, Rubel developed a robust professional relationship with a variety of musicians and bands throughout central Illinois.\u00a0 As a result Pogo Studio recorded and produced over one thousand different projects with such musicians as Adrian Belew and Alison Krauss;
