Donated by Rudy Scheibenreif (University of Illinois alumnus and son of Frank Scheibenreif, host of Chicago radio station WSBC show, “Slovak American Radio Review”).

Description

Total of 1,001 recordings, including 753 78-rpm, 140 45-rpm, and 108 LP discs; and one book: Demo, Ondreij. Klenotnice slovenskych ludovych (Bratislava: 1981) [ M1784 Z13 – a collection of folk songs] Many of these recordings were issued in Czechoslovakia and other eastern European countries prior to World War II. “A majority of the [Scheibenreif radio] program was playing of his beloved recordings …the accumulation of pieces he personally brought back on his numerous trips to his beloved homeland, as well as those he received as gifts from his broadcasting peers in Czechoslovakia.” (Biographical statement.
