The staff of the Media Commons is always happy to discuss any digital media or technology creation project. If the project is outside the mission and/or exceeds the resources available in the Media Commons we are happy to direct you to a group on campus that can assist.
Instruction and Workshop requests
The Undergraduate Library Media Commons now offers a digital billboard dedicated to advertising pre-approved student focused events. Events can include RSO functions, Student Events, Class Events, and other University approved Events.
- Requests are submitted via this form
- Sign files (digital image) must be emailed to Mediacommons@illinois.edu.
- Images must be 1920 *1080 in resolution and in a jpg format.
- Include time frame (start date and end date) for sign display
- Signs must be approved by Media Commons staff before they will be posted.
The Media Commons has PCs, loaded with media editing software including the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Premier, Illustrator, etc.), Audacity, and more.
In addition to our Loanable Technology Collection of digital cameras, audio recorders, and related accessories, the Media commons space includes Scanners.
Black and White Printing is $0.10 a page, color printing is $0.40 a page.
The Media Commons also provides an 11*17 color printer for $.50 a page.
You can also print from your own laptop to the library printers.

Media Production Spaces
Create media in one of several spaces located in the Media Commons. Record high quality video and audio in the Video Production Studio , Audio Production Studio, Self-Use Audio Booth, and Self-Use Video Booth. All are available, by reservation via the links on each page.
In addition to cafe tables with power strips built in, you can Book a group room, complete with a video monitor that multiple users can plug their laptops into.
Technology Services Undergrad Library Computer Lab
Technology Services Undergrad Library Computer Lab is a classroom space that may be used to host classes and workshops on media and technology related topics.
