Founded in 1879, USGS produced print topographic maps from 1884 to 2006. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/core-science-systems\/national-geospatial-program\/us-topo-maps-america\">US Topo<\/a>, a digital topographic map series based in GIS data, replaced printed topographic maps in 2009. US Topo is the current topographic map database for the United States. It is based on print\/legacy maps that have been updated digitally on an every three years schedule.
