Accessible Restrooms

Wheelchair-accessible, gender-neutral restrooms in the Main Stacks are located near the twin yellow elevators approximately halfway along the main corridor on each deck of the East Stacks.

Study Carrels

Study carrels for users with disabilities are available.

Paging of Materials

Patrons can request at the Main Library Circulation Desk to have materials retrieved from the Main Stacks for them.

Staff Assistance

If you’ll need assistance in accessing materials due to limited mobility, please email circlib@library.illinois.edu prior to your visit so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

Additionally, with appropriate advance notice, you may contact us to arrange retrieval and delivery of materials to an accessible location.

Proxy Authorization

Patrons can fill out a form to authorize another library cardholder to act as a proxy and pick up items on their behalf.

Scanning and Photocopying

Online catalog workstations with scanners are available on Decks 3, 5, and 7 in the East Stacks. Staff at the Circulation Desk are also available to assist users with disabilities to scan materials.

The Main Library no longer has photocopiers available. See Scanning and Copying for alternatives.

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery offers DocExpress for users associated with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This service provides scans or copies of materials owned by this university’s library. It is free of charge for faculty, graduate students, and staff. The fee for undergraduate students may be waived upon request for students with disabilities; however, a verification of eligibility from Disability Resources and Educational Services may be required.
