Minutes of the Library Staff Steering CommitteePresent: A. Bendel, A. Conrad, J. Gammon, F. Huang, H.J. Kim, P. Lindell, L. Roberts, B. Trumpinski-Roberts, D. Walters, G. Witte, and Admin Rep. C. Kopp
I. The minutes of the May 26, 1999, meeting were approved as revised.
II. Reports
A. Admin.. Council - (see LON for detailed minutes) Robert Wedgeworth chaired the meeting. He announced that Bart Clark would be Acting Librarian between Mr. Wedgeworth's departure and Paula Kaufman's arrival in September. Betsy Kruger reported on an ILCSO billings/fine proposal which is being presented at divisional meetings.
B. Faculty Meeting - (see LON for detailed minutes) Meeting was canceled. Next meeting June 18.
C. Library Reconfiguration - Meeting schedules are being planned. Construction will not begin until January 2000.
III. Updates
A. ILA - P. Lindell distributed a Reaching Forward South flyer/registration form. The first fall conference will be held Friday, September 24, 1999, in Decatur. A registration form for the next Biennial Conference for Working Women, April 13 and 14, 2000, was distributed.
B. Parking lot lighting - G. Witte received a statement from Bart Clark indicating that the campus committee is not acting on parking lot lighting at this time.
IV. Discussion
A. Personnel issues - LSSC wants to propose the need for staff training and new-staff orientation packets and its relationship to changes in the Personnel Office.
B. Members discussed review/tenure questions for the new University Librarian. LSSC will send a congratulatory letter to Paula Kaufman.
