Library Staff Steering Committee Meeting Minutes
July 26, 2000

Present:  A. Conrad, J. Gammon, T. Hooker, L. Roberts, D. Walter, J. Wiles, and G. Witte

Guest:  Cindy Kelly

I.  The minutes of the July 12, 2000, meeting were revised and approved.

II.  Reports

A.  Admin Council--Report on Libnews--L. A. Conrad reviewed the highlights of the meeting, including the new remote storage building, its capacity, and system of storage of materials.

B.  Faculty--No meeting.

C.  Library Reconfig.--No Meeting

D.  Strategic Planning--A meeting was to be held July 27 to revise strategic plan.

III.  Updates/Discussions

A.  T. Hooker presented survey results of the Pilot Word class.  Participants reported nearly unanimous improvement in skills and knowledge.

B.  Green Borders were chosen for the Certificates of completion for Word and Excel classes.

C.  Morale input survey results have been forwarded to the Library administration.   Thanks to all who sent comments.

IV. 

A.  Cindy Kelly announced that new employee orientation programs are beginning for faculty, GA's, staff, and students.  GA supervisor training has also begun.   More classes in Word level 1 and Excel are still needed.

B.  A Welcome/Referral/Information center has been proposed by Central Public Services.

C.  It was proposed that the decision to wait to form the Facilities Advisory Committee be discussed at the next LSSC Meeting.

D.  LSSC committee members were asked to think about possible committee restructuring issues and an annual report for the next meeting.
