Savvy Researcher Workshops<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Savvy Researcher workshop series is sponsored by the University Library to meet the information management and research needs of all students, faculty, and staff. With our campus partners, including the Speaker\u2019s Center<\/a>, we teach over 60 sessions on a wide variety of topics including citation management, tools for collecting and analyzing qualitative data, copyright, and much more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savvy Researcher workshop attendees will receive three emails from us; one after you register, another two hours before your session is scheduled to start, and a final email two days after your session to provide feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration closes three hours before each scheduled workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may also request a workshop<\/a> for courses, graduate student study groups, and departmental events, etc. Workshop requests are limited to sessions that will include at least five people. Review a list of currently available workshops including their descriptions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evidence Synthesis Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We offer evidence synthesis consultations to faculty, students, and researchers affiliated with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This service includes tailored individual and group consultations and instructional sessions designed to help you start your project with confidence. We also offer enhanced collaborations resulting in grant and publication acknowledgement and co-authorships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a Systematic Review or Evidence Synthesis?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Systematic reviews were first developed in the field of medicine to provide medical practitioners with high-quality evidence that would then be used to make informed decisions on best practices for policies, patient care, and more. Now, systematic reviews and other evidence synthesis are conducted across many disciplines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A systematic review or evidence synthesis research product is a comprehensive collection and critical appraisal of all evidence on a well-defined topic using standardized methods and tools to synthesize and transparently report conclusions on that research topic. Systematic review and evidence synthesis aim to be the highest quality evidence. Therefore, the research methods used in conducting this type of research focus on reducing bias and improving reliability and validity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
