The journal \u201crepresents a significant means for addressing the Association\u2019s research objective.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">5<\/sup>\u00a0Regular sections include Articles, Book Reviews, and News Articles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frequency of publication:<\/strong>\u00a0Quarterly.<\/p>\n<h3>About the publication\u2019s submission guidelines<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Location of submission guidelines:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.kennesaw.edu\/seln\/policies.html\">Submission Policies<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Types of contributions accepted:<\/strong>\u00a0Manuscripts submitted to\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0\u201cneed not be of a scholarly nature but should address professional concerns of the library community. SELn particularly seeks articles that have a broad southeastern scope and\/or address topics identified as timely or important by SELA sections, round tables, or committees.\u201d\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0also accepts articles with a broad range of information sources, not limited to the purely scholarly: \u201cNews releases, newsletters, clippings, and journals from libraries, state associations, and groups throughout the region.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">6<\/sup>\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0also accepts book reviews for consideration.<sup class=\"footnote\">7<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission and review process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For articles, the\u00a0\u201cmanuscript will be acknowledged by the editor. Incoming manuscripts are added to a manuscript bank from which articles are selected for each issue.\u201d The editor assigns manuscripts to at least two reviewers for blind review. Following the review, the author will be notified of the publication decision; articles are usually published within twelve months.<sup class=\"footnote\">8<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>For book reviews, \u201csubmissions will be judged on writing style, content and perceived interest to the readership of the journal.\u201d Those reviews solicited by the editor receive preferential consideration.<sup class=\"footnote\">9<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial tone:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0publishes both juried articles and news and association items. Scholarly articles have an academic tone but a readable style, whereas news articles are more informal. Articles that are not scholarly should \u201caddress professional concerns of the library community.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">10<\/sup>\u00a0A review of the most recent articles reveals well-researched, referenced, and academic writing.<sup class=\"footnote\">11<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Style guide used:<\/strong>\u00a0Latest edition of the\u00a0<em>Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association<\/em>.<sup class=\"footnote\">12<\/sup><\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion: Evaluation of publication\u2019s potential for LIS authors<\/h3>\n<p>This journal provides a good opportunity for LIS practitioners, educators, and students based in the southeastern United States to publish original research and scholarship. Potential authors should consider joining SELA in order to identify topics of interest to members through the association\u2019s sections, roundtables, and committees.<sup class=\"footnote\">13<\/sup>\u00a0LIS authors can also submit book reviews. Further,\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0has issued a call for volunteer reviewers; a reviewer must be a member of SELA and have two years professional experience and two published peer-reviewed articles (or equivalent).<sup class=\"footnote\">14<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Audience analysis<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>About the publication\u2019s readers<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Publication circulation:<\/strong>\u00a0SELA members are able to access current issues online.<sup class=\"footnote\">15<\/sup>\u00a0Back issues one year past are available to all through DigitalCommons.<sup class=\"footnote\">16<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience location and language or cultural considerations:<\/strong>\u00a0Readers are based in the southeastern United States. \u201cState library associations of the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia are eligible to be constituent members of the Association.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">17<\/sup>\u00a0As this publication focuses on a particular group of states, there will generally be a shared\u00a0cultural understanding of relevant topics. However, as\u00a0the\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0covers a fair number of states, specific regional terms should be explained.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reader characteristics:<\/strong>\u00a0SELA membership \u201cmay include any person, library or other organization . . . interested in the promotion and fostering of library and information services in the southeastern United States.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">18<\/sup>\u00a0The audience will share a concern for the betterment of libraries in this region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge of LIS subject matter:<\/strong>\u00a0As members of SELA, readers will have knowledge of LIS subject matter and jargon.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion: Analysis of reader characteristics and their potential impact on authors<\/h3>\n<p>Readers of this journal will have a variety of interests in LIS issues, especially those whose relevance is demonstrated in the context of the southeastern United States.\u00a0<em>SELn<\/em>\u00a0readers are LIS professionals and students throughout the region, so there is an interest in a wide variety of research and scholarship that will benefit and advance practices in all LIS environments .<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last
