Manuscripts that offer interdisciplinary perspectives are strongly encouraged, as are authors from outside library science.\u00a0<i>LCHS<\/i>\u00a0also publishes evaluative reviews of books that complement our journal\u2019s mission to situate libraries within their broader historical context.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">10<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission and review process<\/strong>: The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.editorialmanager.com\/LCHS\/account\/LCHS%20Author%20Submission%20Guidelines.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Submission Guidelines<\/a>\u00a0page has a very detailed list of requirements for submissions. As is standard,\u00a0the journal only accepts unpublished articles and articles that aren\u2019t currently under review elsewhere.<sup class=\"footnote\">11<\/sup>\u00a0Authors are asked to create an account through\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.editorialmanager.com\/LCHS\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Editorial Manager<\/a>\u00a0and submit their manuscripts there.<\/p>\n<p>As for the review process,\u00a0manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review after passing the initial editorial screening.<sup class=\"footnote\">12<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial tone<\/strong>: Scholarly but very readable<sup class=\"footnote\">13<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Style guide used<\/strong>:\u00a0<em>Chicago Manual of Style,\u00a0<\/em>notes system<sup class=\"footnote\">14<\/sup><\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion: Evaluation of publication\u2019s potential for LIS authors<\/h3>\n<p><em>Libraries: Culture, History, and Society\u00a0<\/em>is an excellent publication for LIS scholars interested in a wide variety of topics pertaining to LIS history. In addition to U.S. history, the journal\u2019s third and fourth issues will cover libraries in the Jewish settlements of Argentina, 100 years of libraries and the library profession in Catalonia, and the Danish philosopher S\u00f8ren Kierkegaard a library user in Copenhagen.<sup class=\"footnote\">15<\/sup>\u00a0Additionally, the journal was just launched in 2017\u00a0<sup class=\"footnote\">16<\/sup>, providing LIS authors with a unique opportunity to guide the journal\u2019s formative years.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, despite the journal\u2019s youth, it\u2019s the official journal of the Library History Round Table, a respected organization that dates back to 1947.<sup class=\"footnote\">17<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Thus,\u00a0 authors can take pride in the knowledge that they\u2019re contributing to the mission of a well-established organization with a storied history.<\/p>\n<h2>Audience analysis<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>About the publication\u2019s readers<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Publication circulation<\/strong>: Circulation numbers are not available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience location and language or cultural considerations<\/strong>: The journal is written using standard American spelling,<sup class=\"footnote\">18<\/sup>\u00a0and the majority of its editorial board members live in the U.S.<sup class=\"footnote\">19<\/sup>\u00a0Despite this majority, the editors are eager to receive contributions from authors all over the globe to show the enormous diversity in libraries.<sup class=\"footnote\">20<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reader characteristics<\/strong>: Readers are likely to be well-versed in LIS history. In keeping with the scholarly nature of this journal, readers will likely have a bachelor\u2019s degree (at minimum). Additionally, they will be fluent in English.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reader knowledge of LIS subject matter<\/strong>: Although readers should still be familiar with basic LIS terminology,\u00a0<em>Libraries: Culture, History, and Society\u00a0<\/em>is not as technical as, say,\u00a0<em>Journal of Library Metadata.\u00a0<\/em>This characteristic is largely influenced by the journal\u2019s broad historical focus, meaning that its articles are more concerned with the broader sociological factors (e.g., fiscal crises)<sup class=\"footnote\">21<\/sup>\u00a0and how said factors shaped various libraries than the finer technical operations of libraries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"incsub_wiki_content\">\n<h3>Conclusion: Analysis of reader characteristics and their potential impact on authors<\/h3>\n<p>Readers will expect authors to be well-versed in LIS history and ideally, have a background in sociology, history, etc. Furthermore, readers will appreciate
