Book reviews should be about 1,000 words in length, whereas articles should be 3,000 to 6,000 words, and no more than 10,000.<sup class=\"footnote\">6<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Submission and review process:<\/strong> First, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cjal.ca\/index.php\/capal\/user\/register\">register and create a username and password<\/a> for the <i>Canadian Journal of Academic Librarianship<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Once you are ready to submit, be sure to read through the\u00a0<a title=\"Author Guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cjal.ca\/index.php\/capal\/about\/submissions#authorGuidelines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Author Guidelines<\/a>\u00a0to make sure you have formatted your work properly and included all necessary information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubmissions are reviewed first by an editor to confirm that the submission is appropriate for the\u00a0<i>Canadian Journal of Academic Librarianship<\/i>. This step typically occurs within two weeks of submission. This editorial review considers questions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is the submission within the Aims and Scope?<\/li>\n<li>Is the submission readable and within the desired word count?<\/li>\n<li>Has the submission been published elsewhere?<\/li>\n<li>Has the submission document been anonymized?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWhen the editor has determined that the submission is appropriate to be considered for publication, he\/she contacts potential reviewers. Editors do not also serve as reviewers. Each submission is normally reviewed by two reviewers. Recently published articles are on topics such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cjal.ca\/index.php\/capal\/article\/view\/28630\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">using social epistemology to understand information behaviors<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cjal.ca\/index.php\/capal\/article\/view\/29922\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Indigenous research and librarianship in Canada.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<i>CJAL<\/i>\u00a0could also be a good outlet for reviews on LIS books written in the last three years. The association\u2019s About page states that they differ from other library associations in that CAPAL \u201cis an advocacy group focused on the individual and the profession.\u201d<sup class=\"footnote\">9<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Readers are librarians who are well versed in LIS topics, particularly as they relate to academic librarianship.
