Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of the Lincoln-related writings and accompanying materials of Ralph G. Lindstrom.

Ralph G. Lindstrom was a prominent attorney in Los Angeles, California. Born in Illinois in 1891, he was a frequent speaker on Lincoln topics. He also contributed to Christian Science Monitor, was president of the Lincoln Fellowship of Southern California and the Lincoln Sesquicentennial Association of California, and wrote the book Lincoln Finds God (1958). Lindstrom's book went through many drafts between 1952 and 1961, much of which was set aside. He had planned to revise this material for another book, "Lincoln and 'Man's Vast Future,'" a sample of which is retained in this collection.

This collection contains typescripts of papers, mostly on Lincoln, that Lindstrom delivered. Also included are book reviews, photographs, and excerpts of correspondence that Lindstrom received when his book was serialized in the Christian Science Monitor, and a sample of his other writings.

The Library purchased this collection in 1993.
