Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection contains photocopies of the papers of Bert E. and Frank E. Pinkerton, brothers who were longtime Illinois printers and active members of the Republican party. The collection consists largely of personal letters exchanged by the brothers with their nephew, Ralph Kirby, but also includes newspaper clippings, legal documents, and genealogical information. Emmett Kirby of Champaign, Ill., loaned the originals to the Illinois Historical Survey for photocopying in 1980.
