This collection includes letters from Nellie M. Raikes which briefly describe wartime conditions in Great Britain. The letters, written from London on May 22, 1940, and from Lanarkshire, Scotland on Feb. 4, 1941, and also a Christmas greeting in 1940, include envelopes with stickers indicating that they had been opened and examined by government censors. These items were addressed to Mrs. H. W. Lang, of Urbana, Ill., and Melrose, Mass., who gave them to the Library in 1941.
