American Legion, Roy Hamm Post No. 101, Monticello, Ill. Papers, 1919-1955 | Illinois History and Lincoln Collections
Nineteen World War I veterans in Monticello, Ill., established an American Legion Post in 1919. The post was officially named in 1922 for Roy Hamm, Monticello's first casualty in World War I, but was changed in 1981 to the Hamm-Burke Post to honor Robert Burke, a local man killed in the Vietnam War.
The collection contains correspondence, legal documents, membership lists, newsletters, and other materials.
The collection was donated to the Library in 1990 by the Piatt County Historical and Genealogical Society.
