Episcopal Diocese Of Springfield. Letters, 1919-1920 | Illinois History and Lincoln Collections
This collection consists of correspondence relating to the Episcopal Diocese of Springfield. In a letter of Mar. 24, 1919, Granville H. Sherwood, Bishop of Springfield, wrote to the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Springfield requesting its consent to the sale and purchase of Church property in Centralia, Illinois. A second letter of Nov. 1, 1920 from J. W. Ware, President of the Standing Committee of the Diocese of West Virginia to the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Springfield asks consent to the election of a Bishop Coadjutor.
This collection was transferred from the University Archives in 1971. It originally also included two unrelated religious documents, which are now in the Religious Writing collection.
