This collection contains photographs and other visual materials that George H. Douglas collected for his history of Chicago and the railroad, Rail City: Chicago, U.S.A. (1981).
The collection is filed in two boxes. Box 1 contains images used in the book, arranged by chapter in the order in which they appear. Box 2 contains photographs not used in the book as well as some of the original illustration sources and negatives used to create the prints in Box 1. These are arranged by subject and media. See the attached inventory for further detail.
Professor Douglas donated this collection to the Library in 1999 as well as a signed copy of his book (IHLC 385.0977311 D745r). Related material is in the George H. Douglas papers in the University Archives (15/7/49).
