Scope and Contents:
These census schedules for 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 contain a wealth of information on American manufacturing and industrial activities. They present a variety of information including name and type of business, location, size, production figures, and capital investment. Specifically, these film reels contain: agriculture, manufactures, and social statistics from the 1850 Census (FILM 317.73 Un3s 1850); the 1860 social statistics (FILM 317.73 Un3s 1860) and industry Census (FILM 670.9773 Un3e 1860); social statistics (FILM 317.73 Un3s 1870) and industry (2 reels, FILM 670.9773 Un3n 1870) from the 1870 Census; and manufactures statistics (6 reels, FILM 670.9773 Un3m 1880) from the 1880 Census.
The microfilm was obtained from the Illinois State Archives in 1973.
