Scope and Contents:
This collection contains the administrative papers of Leverett S. Lyon, Executive Director of the Northeastern Illinois Metropolitan Area Local Governmental Services Commission, and the records of Gilbert Y. Steiner, the commission's research director. Lyon's papers, 1952-57, include commission meeting minutes, correspondence, drafts of studies and reports, and information on bills and acts in the state legislature. Steiner's records, 1955-63, consist mainly of reports and studies on various topics, including sanitation, fire protection, air pollution, metro-political planning, and the census.
The Institute of Government and Public Affairs deposited the collection in the Library in 1975.
