This 1862 financial report of the London and Northwestern Railroad, written by James Edward McConnell to the Locomotive Expenditure Committee, gives a detailed account of expenditures for increasing locomotive tonnage and shed cover. McConnell (1815-1883) was the Locomotive Superintendent of the London and Northwestern Railroad's Southern Division from 1847 until 1862.
