December 3 rd, 1818 Illinois became the 21 st state in the United States of America. Since then its publications have documented the variety of activities it has undertaken including topics from agriculture and education to environment, law, statistics and more. The University of Illinois Library has collected these materials through its membership in the Illinois Documents Depository Program since the late 1960s and obtained many state documents prior to becoming a depository library making it a rich collection of Illinois documents. It also collects materials about Illinois from non-government sources.
