Oak St.)<br \/>\n<strong>Supervisor: <\/strong>Melanie Rusk, Library Operations Associate<br \/>\n<strong>Number of Openings: <\/strong>3-4<br \/>\n<strong>Hourly Rate:<\/strong>\u00a0$15<strong><br \/>\nAnticipated Start Date:\u00a0<\/strong>ASAP<br \/>\n<strong>Hours per week anticipated:\u00a0<\/strong>10-15<br \/>\n<strong>Schedule:\u00a0<\/strong>Must be able to work shifts between 8:00 am \u2013 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary:\u00a0<\/strong>The Collection Management Services (CMS) unit is responsible for several ongoing functions within the\u00a0Library. These include operation of the Oak Street\u00a0Library, receiving and processing gifts of books, transferring materials to the Oak Street\u00a0Library\u00a0from other libraries across campus, and assisting libraries with collection management projects such as transfers, shifting their collections, or cataloging backlogs. In addition, CMS is also central to the\u00a0Library\u2019s participation in two major endeavors with the Big Ten Academic Alliance: the Google Book Search Project and the Shared Print Repository.<\/p>\n<p><u>We are currently looking for help with a special project that is starting around August 10<sup>th<\/sup> and lasting until mid-late September but can also use support with our daily operations before then! Therefore, preference will be given to those who can start ASAP and continue into fall semester.<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Major Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Processing books for the Google project<\/li>\n<li>Sizing\/cleaning books to be shelved at the Oak Street Library Facility<\/li>\n<li>Pulling books at the Main Library<\/li>\n<li>Shifting library collections (loading and unloading carts of books onto shelves)<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled as a student for the fall semester<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and to stay on task<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lift boxes of books, some weighing up to 80 lbs.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to load and push full carts of books<\/li>\n<li>Ability to stand and squat\/kneel for extended periods of time<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to work in environments that have fluctuating temperatures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To Apply<\/strong>: Please send email with resume and schedule availability for <u>both summer and fall<\/u> to Melanie Rusk at <a href=\"mailto:mrusk@illinois.edu\">mrusk@illinois.edu<\/a>.
