{"id":11316,"date":"1998-01-03T22:48:27","date_gmt":"1998-01-03T22:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/funkaces\/?p=11316"},"modified":"2018-03-03T22:54:34","modified_gmt":"2018-03-03T22:54:34","slug":"acdc-news-issue-98-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/funkaces\/acdc-news-issue-98-14\/","title":{"rendered":"ACDC News \u2013 Issue 98-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><b>Hundreds of added documents have come into the farm broadcasting collection<\/b>\u00a0<strong>since mid-September at the Agricultural Communications Documentation Center (ACDC).<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Our staff members are identifying these materials from the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) archives, which are located here at the University of Illinois.\u00a0 The documents include newsletter features, trade journal articles, reports, media use surveys, audio tapes, CDs and materials in other formats.\u00a0 They trace from today back to the early days of radio.\u00a0 And they contain a wealth of information about farm broadcasting methods, trends, listenership, issues and impact.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"item2\"><\/a>You can see citations for these new documents\u00a0by searching under subject terms such as \u201crural broadcasts,\u201d \u201cbroadcasters,\u201d \u201cradio programs,\u201d \u201clistenership,\u201d \u201ctelevision methods\u201d and \u201ctelevision viewing.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a name=\"item3\"><\/a><b>Here\u2019s a useful way to narrow your search<\/b>\u00a0<strong>for documents in ACDC.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Try using more than one subject term in a search.\u00a0 For example, if you want to identify documents about the role of farm broadcasting, you simply enter two terms under \u201csubject\u201d in the search form, as follows: role rural broadcasts<\/p>\n<p>You need to use no quotation marks or punctuation.\u00a0 Instead, you type in the first term (role), move one space, then type in the second term (rural broadcasts).\u00a0 If you are uncertain about what subject terms to use, you can check the thesaurus by clicking on the \u201cthesaurus\u201d hot link above the search form.<\/p>\n<p>Let us know if you have questions or would like help in conducting your searches.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a name=\"item4\"><\/a><b>A new online magazine c<\/b>ontains some literature about communications aspects of agricultural biotechnology.<\/h3>\n<p>AgBioForum\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agbioforum.missouri.edu\/AgBioForum\">http:\/\/agbioforum.missouri.edu\/AgBioForum<\/a>\u00a0, a quarterly online magazine devoted to the economics and management of agricultural biotechnology, is published by the Illinois Missouri Biotechnology Alliance.\u00a0 The Alliance is supported by a congressional special grant to \u201cprovide funding for university biotechnology research directed at placing new products in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a name=\"item5\"><\/a><b>Resources from the 1998 Cooperative Communicators Association Institute<\/b>.<\/h3>\n<p>We are in the process of adding some interesting documents from the CCA Institute, which took place in Santa Fe, New Mexico, during June.
