Pages within the site will feature lists of ACE communications researchers, current research projects, events, awards, related sites and other items. The URL is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ext.wvu.edu\/rsig\">www.ext.wvu.edu\/rsig\u00a0<\/a>and you can reach it easily through the \u201cOther web sites\u201d page of the Documentation Center site you are viewing now.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a name=\"item2\"><\/a><b>Here are some new documents about technologies for agricultural information.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>We have added them to the Center during recent weeks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proceedings of two national conferences:<br \/>\n\u201cCommunicating agricultural information in remote places\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cNew information technologies in agriculture\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Agricultural information via the Cleveland Free-Net<\/li>\n<li>Use of private consultants and other sources of information by large Cornbelt farmers<\/li>\n<li>Farm computer uptake and practices in New Zealand<\/li>\n<li>How to achieve value from information technology investments (paper industry)<\/li>\n<li>The role of agricultural research networks in small countries<\/li>\n<li>Library networking and resource sharing in the National Agricultural Research System (NARS) and possible role of International Agricultural Research Centers (IARCs).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a name=\"item3\"><\/a><b>View the depression years in rural America.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>You can view some powerful documentary photography through a collection offered on the American Memory site of the U.S. Library of Congress.\u00a0 Thousands of historical rural photographs from the Farm Security Administration project of the 1930s are now available at the following URL:<a href=\"http:\/\/memory.loc.gov\/ammem\/fsowhome.html\">http:\/\/memory.loc.gov\/ammem\/fsowhome.html<\/a>. You can search the collection by subject, photographer or geography.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a name=\"item4\"><\/a><b>Innovative formats for teaching rural communications.\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Faculty members at the Muresk Institute of Agriculture, Western Australia, are offering rural media courses in innovative formats and venues.<\/p>\n<p>They offered an Intensive Rural Media Course on April 1-4 as a \u201cblock\u201d unit, plus two one-day follow-up workshops. This schedule accommodated full-time students during a week free of other classes, as well as other persons unable to attend normal weekly class sessions.<\/p>\n<p>The faculty also offered a rural radio course for two weeks in early July. Next comes a rural television and video production course.\u00a0 It will extend over three weekends during August to September, plus one full week during late September to early October.<\/p>\n<p>These offerings serve Muresk students, plus others (such as promotion officers for rural organizations and community groups) who wish to learn about rural media.
