Chasco, David. | Kapp, Paul Hardin. | Sears, Stephen. Round barns projected : a collaborative design exploration for the Experimental Dairy Complex. [Urbana, Ill.] : Illinois School of Architecture, 2010. Publication resulting from a Joint design initiative conducted between the School of Architecture and the Department of Landscape Architecture in the 2009-2010 academic year to examine and design various ways in the which the round barns could be adapted for a new use for the university. The first studio was the School of Architecture’s Historic Preservation Design Studio (Paul Hardin Kapp, instructor, Fall 2009), which developed programmatic ideas and implemented them in several adaptive use and rehabilitation design solutions. This studio produced twelve independent design investigations. These projects were the starting point for the subsequent site studio. The second part of the initiative was conducted in the Vertical Landscape Architecture Design Studio (Stephen Sears, instructor, spring 2010), which focused on implementing landscape design solutions at the site of the round barn complex. Students were asked to propose new uses and design new features based on re-programming established by the architecture studio that respected the historic and cultural qualities of the barn complex, while providing a contemporary and productive campus landscape.  725.372 R76
