{"id":102,"date":"2016-06-28T19:07:45","date_gmt":"2016-06-28T19:07:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/borrowing\/?page_id=102"},"modified":"2022-05-19T15:18:04","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T15:18:04","slug":"return","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/borrowing\/return\/","title":{"rendered":"Return Items"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Where to Return\u00a0Material<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Most items, including I-Share material<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; return to any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.illinois.edu\/borrowing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/06\/mapANDdirectory.pdf\">Urbana campus library<\/a> circulation desk or bookdrop<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exceptions<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Loanable technology<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>video games<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; hand item to library staff at the circulation desk\u00a0where you checked out the item<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\"><strong>Interlibrary Loan<\/strong> (NOT I-Share) materials &#8211; return to\u00a0the Main Library Circulation Desk<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fragile<\/strong> or <strong>Poor Condition<\/strong> items &#8211; hand item to library staff at the\u00a0circulation desk where you checked out the item<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recalled<\/strong> items &#8211; hand item to staff at a circulation desk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>General Information<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Library materials <strong>can&#8217;t\u00a0be returned through campus mail<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Items are discharged from your\u00a0account before being shipped back to the owning library.<\/li>\n<li>When your returned UIUC items are checked in, you&#8217;ll get a return receipt by email.<\/li>\n<li>Some I-Share libraries send return receipts by email when their items are returned, but others do not. To monitor your checked-out items in your Library account, click on the list of institutions on the side to <a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.illinois.edu\/librarycatalog\/request-renew#s-lg-box-25290228\">see your current loans from each I-Share library<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Urbana Free and\u00a0Champaign Public Library material\u00a0<strong>cannot<\/strong>\u00a0be returned to U of I libraries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Outside Bookdrops<\/h3>\n<p>Outside bookdrops can be found in the following locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Funk ACES Library &#8211; Outside the south entrance (by the circle drive)<\/li>\n<li>Grainger Engineering Library &#8211; Southeast corner of the building (on the engineering quad, near the loading dock)<\/li>\n<li>Main Library &#8211; Southwest corner of the building, in the parking lot (upper level)<\/li>\n<li>Music Building\u00a0&#8211; Outside the north entrance (opposite Krannert Center)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.illinois.edu\/borrowing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/06\/mapANDdirectory.pdf\">U of I Library map and directory<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keep in mind the following when using a bookdrop:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Advantages\n<ul>\n<li>They&#8217;re available\u00a0when the Library is\u00a0closed.<\/li>\n<li>They&#8217;re convenient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Disadvantages\n<ul>\n<li>Some items can&#8217;t be returned to a bookdrop\u00a0(see Exceptions above).<\/li>\n<li>Items may not be discharged from your account as quickly.
