Here are the results from the question about awareness of Library events happening in their building.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"isPasted\" data-contrast=\"none\">We received\u202f123\u00a0responses,\u00a0representing\u00a0a 43% response rate\u202ffrom current Library faculty, civil service, and academic professionals. The results of this survey have a 90% confidence level with a margin of error of \u00b16%.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>September Survey Question:<\/h3>\n<p>How informed\u00a0do you feel about library events taking place in your building?<\/p>\n<p>Respondents could select from a 5-point scale ranging from Extremely informed to Not at all informed.\u00a0Here\u2019s\u00a0what you told us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Extremely informed \u201313% (16 responses)<\/li>\n<li>Very informed\u202f\u2013 35% (43 responses)<\/li>\n<li>Somewhat informed \u2013 39% (48 responses)<\/li>\n<li>Slightly informed\u202f\u2013 11.4% (14 responses)<\/li>\n<li>Not at all informed \u202f\u2013 1.6% (2 responses)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2220\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/bhrsc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/88\/2025\/10\/sept2025chart.png\" alt=\"Bar chart showing Pulse Survey responses\" width=\"1000\" height=\"587\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>(<\/strong><strong>Optional) Please provide more details about your response.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thirty-nine employees (31%) added optional comments to their responses. The major themes from these comments were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Across all levels of awareness&#8211;Not Informed to Extremely Informed&#8211;those who provided comments conveyed some degree of uncertainty about events.<\/li>\n<li>Employees indicate information overload from disparate processes and communication channels.<\/li>\n<li>Impact to other units can take different shapes, from not being able to answer patron questions (i.e., I am unable to help patrons to the best of my ability because I didn\u2019t know what was going on) to dealing with noise\u00a0to uncertainty about their roles and expectations when events take place near their workspace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Actions and outcomes<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Events Working Group will consider adding a prompt to the existing event request form about potential noise, odors, or other disruptions to support better communication.<\/li>\n<li>This group will also explore ways for consolidating event information into a single calendar or location, and clarify intended audiences (e.g., employees only, public, or both).<\/li>\n<li>Senior Administration continues to discuss and explore ideas informed by insights from pulse surveys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you to everyone who\u00a0participated\u00a0in our recent pulse survey\u00a0that closed September 23.
