{"id":1222,"date":"2022-09-30T14:26:21","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T14:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/bhrsc\/?page_id=1222"},"modified":"2023-04-11T14:54:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T14:54:51","slug":"recruitment-process-for-graduate-assistants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/bhrsc\/human-resources\/recruiting-hiring-and-onboarding\/recruiting\/recruitment-process-for-graduate-assistants\/","title":{"rendered":"Recruitment Process for Graduate Assistants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><div class=\"shortcode sh-px-3 sh-py-1.5 sh-bg-il_blue !sh-text-white sh-flex sh-justify-between sh-items-center\"> <span class=\"shortcode sh-grow sh-text-center sh-text-xl sh-font-medium sh-no-underline\">Graduate Assistantship Allocation - Request Process<\/span> <\/div><\/p>\n<p>The University Library provides graduate assistantships typically to selected iSchool students.\u00a0 Due to the high demand by library units for the assistantships, the Library Administration has a process for identifying assistantship needs in their units and allocating the funding.<\/p>\n<p>The Assistant Dean for Business and Human Resources shares the call for requests in late fall (November\/December).\u00a0 Typically Unit Heads (but sometimes individual faculty) will submit the GA requests via Webtools Form (or by the process noted in the call).<\/p>\n<p>The requests are reviewed by the Budget Group to determine how many requests can be funded\/approved and how the requests will be distributed across the library.<\/p>\n<p>The Assistant Dean for Business and Human Resources notifies the Unit Heads of the decisions as soon as possible typically no later than the first week of February.<\/p>\n<p>Reminders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2nd Year GA appointments have to be part of the request\/approval process.<\/li>\n<li>Review the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.library.illinois.edu\/bhrsc\/human-resources\/job-performance-fundamentals\/graduate-assistantship-policy-number-of-assistantships-per-information-sciences-mslis-student\/\">Library\u2019s Graduate Assistantship Policy for the Number of Assistantships per Student<\/a><\/span> in effect for FY2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Questions regarding the Request Process &#8211;
