Family Study Spaces & Resources<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

The Orange Room<\/h3>\n

The Orange Room has a family study space<\/a> (room 13) on the first floor of the Main Library.\u00a0 This space includes adult and child-sized furniture, a play kitchen, and children’s books. You can also check out a Family Kit with coloring books, games, toys, and puzzles. Amazon Fire Tablets and a Pack-n-Play are also available to check out at the circulation desk in the Orange Room, as are headphones and sensory tools\/fidget devices.<\/p>\n

Grainger Engineering Library and Information Center<\/h3>\n

The Grainer Engineering Library and Information center has two different spaces<\/a> for parents and families – \u00a0a Lactation Space (room 429), and a Family space (room 435).\u00a0 The Family space also includes adult and child-sized furniture, and STEM-themed Activity Kits can be checked out at the circulation desk on the first floor.<\/p>\n

Funk ACES Library<\/h3>\n

The Funk ACES Library has Activity Kits for Children<\/a> available for check-out from the Circulation Desk on Floor 2.\u00a0 Each Activity Kit has a Funk-related theme and target age group, and each comes in a tote bag and contains two books, a single-player activity, a whiteboard, and dry erase markers.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Funk has three different Resource Trunks for Educators<\/a>, which are provided by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.\u00a0 Each Resource Trunk contains books, samples, and activities to support teaching and learning about Illinois natural resources.\u00a0 Anyone may borrow a trunk, and the standard loan period is 2 weeks.<\/p>\n

Children’s Books<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

Print and Online Collections<\/h3>\n

The Social Sciences, Health, and Education Library (Room 101 on the first floor of the Main Library) has an extensive collection of children’s books<\/a>, known as the School Collection or\u00a0 “S-Collection.”\u00a0 Books are available at a wide variety of reading levels, and can be checked out for up to two weeks at a time, so you can take them home!\u00a0 The library also provides access to online children’s books<\/a>, and books in a variety of languages.<\/p>\n

Health Information and Support<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

Food Pantry<\/h3>\n

The Orange Room on the first floor of the Main Library is home to a food pantry<\/a>, supported by the Wesley Foundation.\u00a0 There is no cost for the service, and no sign-up or registration required.\u00a0 The food pantry also has a microwave for re-heating meals from home.<\/p>\n

Self-Care Stations and Health Information<\/h3>\n

Both the Funk ACES Library and Grainger Engineering Library and Information Center are home to self-care stations<\/a> provided by the McKinley Health Center.\u00a0 The machines provide over-the counter medical supplies, sexual health supplies, a sleep pack, and more. Everything included in these stations are part of your health care fee so there is no charge to students..\u00a0 A current iCard is required for access.\u00a0 The machines are on the first floors of both libraries.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Grainger Library also has a health information center located adjacent to their self-care station, with rotating information about library and community health support programs.<\/p>\n
