We offer hands-on museum education by asking students to research works of art, which can include everything from uncovering logistical details to finding exhibition histories and broad intellectual context. Knowing where to get started, and how to deepen their inquiries, has been essential. I have seen students benefit from instructions on how to use specific online databases and how to locate library books in the stacks, and they apply these skills to their other classes.<span class=\" fa-solid fa-quote-right\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;font-size: 16px\"> &#8211; Amy Powell<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 16px\">, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Krannert Art Museum <\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode sh-grid sh-grid-cols-1 md:sh-grid-cols-12 sh-gap-3\"><br \/>\n<div class=\"shortcode sh-col-span-8 sh-pb-3\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 18px\"><span class=\" fa-solid fa-quote-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span> With the help of the Ricker Library\u2019s Emilee Mathews, I have taught several studio art courses that utilized the Library as a site for creative play and invention, as well as for research. For these classes, the Ricker served as a unique kind of place, one that is somewhere between a controlled classroom and a public square, where we negotiated the needs and actions of others while engaging in collective and individual learning. In this way, the Ricker has been invaluable for helping me introduce expectations of success, failure, and accountability in ways that extend beyond our typical classroom walls. <span class=\" fa-solid fa-quote-right\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;font-size: 16px\"> &#8211;
