Known Problems with the OPAC
Features of the old online catalog that will be available in the new catalog later in
summer 2009:
- Repeat search in the I-Share catalog?
- Find other copies in I-Share libraries
- Text me this call number
- SFX (Discover) links in online catalog records
- The feature that assists UIUC users who try to request UIUC items in the I-Share catalog for
pickup at one of the UIUC libraries. It refers users back to the UIUC catalog to place these
requests.
- Save Search Strategy
- Faster response time (we hope!)
Issues in the new online catalog that are being worked on:
- You cannot renew an item belonging to any I-Share library if you have a block on your record at
any other I-Share library.
- You may not be able to renew multiple items at one time, especially if the items belong to
multiple I-Share libraries. We recommend renewing one item at a time, or using the
VuFind interface to manage your
account.
- When renewal requests fail, the system does not give the reason for the failure.
- The system often asks you to log in to "My Account" twice. You login correctly with your
ID number and last name, but get this message: "Sorry for the inconvenience. The catalog could not
identify you from your ID number alone. Please select your home library from the list, re-enter
your ID number and last name, and try again." The second login is successful.
- The EndNote export format does not include the date of publication.
Issues in the new online catalog that are not being worked on right now:
- The MyAccount display of items charged, requests pending, etc. does not include call
numbers.
