UGL commits to making the 2007-2008 school year one that will continue our tradition of exemplary service to our patrons and to communicating with YOU…the faculty and staff that make up this great institution known as the University of Illinois Library!
We hope this newsletter continues to serve as a resource to all of you in the Library as a source of information and guide to the services and “happenings” of the Undergraduate Library. We want to ensure that our continual changes, innovations, and policies are communicated throughout the library.

We heard the students. With the support of the Provost, a portion of the student fee is funding modified 24 hour service. The Undergraduate Library, with 100 % of its services and spaces, will be open from 8am-3am. The Undergrad Lobby (Espresso Royale area and upper and lower entrance areas) will be open as a sudy hall from 3am-8am Monday through Friday morning.
In addition, UGL will open at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday, and close at 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For more detailed information on these hours please see the University Library Hours.
Once again we are busy processing e-reserves for the new semester. Instructors wishing to submit electronic reserve items should know the following:

Seven group collaboration rooms accommodating up to 8 people are now available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Located on the upper level, the rooms provide a table, chairs and a whiteboard. One room includes a large flat screen monitor, which will allow students to connect laptops. Whiteboard markers can be checked out from the Information Services Desk. These rooms have been created in an effort to accommodate the collaborative learning in all areas in which students engage.
