Finding books by subject

When you know an existing Library of Congress Subject Heading:

  1. Enter the Online Library Catalog.
  2. Select the Subject tab.
  3. Enter your subject term(s) in the Search box.
  4. Click Search. 
  5. Click on the headings that look most applicable to your topic to view a list of items.

When you do NOT know an appropriate Library of Congress Subject Heading:

  1.  Enter the Online Library Catalog.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Enter your subject term(s) in the Search box.
  4. Select "Subject" in the  Within box.
  5. Click Search. 
  6. Click on the headings that look most applicable to your topic to view a list of items.
