Multicultural Outreach Services: Programs and Outreach

The University of Illinois Libraries has begun a coordinated outreach program designed to support several academic and culturally-related programs and offices as a way to help promote an open and inclusive environment for all students, faculty and staff.  The following partnerships provide information about current collaborative partnerships underway between the library and other campus services.


Fifth annual Multilingual Library Tours (2009)
  • The Library is once again holding tours of the library in many languages. This year, you can sign up or drop in for a tour in French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Swahili, Russian, Serbian, Croatian and German.
  • To sign up, e-mail Emily Love at elove@uiuc.edu, or simply meet in the Marshall Gallery in the Main Library (entrance across from the Undergraduate Library) shortly before the tour.

International Film Week at the Library

The Main Library will be hosting the Third Annual International Film Week from Monday, March 9th - Wednesday, March 11th, 2009. Please join us in the Main Library, Room 66 at 7pm to watch the screenings of Watoto Wa Mitaani, a documentary produced by former University of Illinois Alum, Michael Stewart; the Czech film, Something Like Happiness, an official selection of the Toronto and London Film Festivals; and the Indonsian Film, Gie. Light refreshments will be served.

Office of Minority Student Affairs
  • McNairs Scholars Program McNairs Scholars Program – Library hosts an integrated library instruction program into the semester long program to help prepare students with advanced researching skills.
  • Weekly Drop-in Library workshops – Students can sign up for one-to-one tutoring on time saving search strategies.
