What Can I Do Before Calling For Help?
The obvious... (plug it in and turn it on!)
Rebooting is simple and fixes a lot of common problems:
Save your work if necessary and if possible.
Logoff from communication (e.g. telnet) sessions.
Exit, close, disconnect from applications. It is important to exit "gracefully" from applications whenever possible.
Restart the computer. In Windows you do this by pressing on the Start button, selecting Shut Down, then Restart the Computer.
