Literacy

  • The Children's Book Council

The Children's Book Council is a non-profit trade organization that has been dedicated to encouraging literacy and the use and enjoyment of children's books. This site offers a variety of information including booklists, author and illustrator links, reading activities, and events such as Children's Book Week and Young People's Poetry Week.

  • Reading is Fundamental

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is the largest children's literacy nonprofit in the United States. RIF seeks to increase literacy in America by providing books and reading resources to children and families who may not have access to them otherwise. The "literacy resources" section of the website provides themed activities, booklists, articles
on literacy-related topics, brochures that are free to download and distribute, and multicultural literacy resources. Several of the activities, brochures, and e-books are available in Spanish. RIF resources will be useful to teachers, librarians, and parents looking for literacy activities, information on book selection, or ways to educate others about the importance of literacy.
