With over 25 different libraries scattered across the campus, the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois has one of the most complex and rich library systems in the world. The tips listed below will go a long way toward helping you use the Library effectively.
Your i-card is your library card.
You need your i-card to check out items and use certain library resources.
Undergraduates may use ALL libraries.
Use the online catalog to look for books, DVDs, maps and many other resources -- it contains items from all 35 libraries
When you find something you want in the catalog write down The Big 3:
Location: Which library the item is kept (or libraries, if we have multiple copies)
Call Number: Your guide for pinpointing the exact location of the item
Status: Is it available for you to check out?
Use a database to get articles from newspapers, magazines and journals:
Check out the Undergraduate Library's Types of Databases page to choose the best one for your topic.
