Scope and Contents of the Materials

This volume (34 pages) contains the manuscript of John Fiske's essay "John Milton." The essay, later published in Fiske's Essays Historical and Literary, discusses Milton's life and literary works. The volume includes an engraving by Caroline Watson, which features a portrait of Milton based on Samuel Cooper's painting, as well as an engraved portrait of John Fiske.
