A fine collection of dust balls atop a row of books.
Routine cleaning will markedly extend the life and usefulness of books and paper. Dust, and the grit and grime which comes in through open windows, settles onto the tops of books and works down between the pages, grinding into fibers and marring paper. There are molds and other microscopic organisms continuously circulating and working into paper fibers. Regular cleaning removes particles of grime and promotes the discovery of molds and mildew which may be quietly eating away at the paper and cardboard in your books.
