Multiple Signature Sewing

Procedure:

Sewing Multiple Signatures

There are pamphlets and other soft-cover items which have more than a single signature. When there are multiple signatures, we cannot bind them as we normally do, stapling (or sewing) them through their center folds.

Instead, we can sew each, individual signature into a pamphlet binder; this works best with a maximum of 7-8 signatures. We put pieces of tape in the center page of each signature; these reinforce the paper where we will pierce it with an awl and sewing needle. For multiple signatures, we use an even number of holes.

After we next bind this booklet in the regular manner (fly sheeting and gluing into binder tapes), we are ready for the sewing.
