Sarah Shreeves has accepted appointment as Coordinator, Scholarly Commons, effective Oct. 16. She also will continue to serve as Coordinator of IDEALS, the set of services and collections that comprise the institutional repository at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). In that position, Sarah is responsible for working with faculty, students, and researchers on a range of scholarly communication issues including author rights, open access, and data curation, which dovetails with the mission of the Scholarly Commons.
Sarah has spoken and published on both social and technical issues related to metadata interoperability. Her research interests lie in scholarly communication issues related to institutional repositories and metadata interoperability. She has a BA in Medieval Studies from Bryn Mawr College, an M.A. in Children's Literature from Simmons College, and an M.S. in Library and Information Science from UIUC.
Speaking of her new responsibilities coordinating the Scholarly Commons, Sarah says "I'm excited to help lead the Scholarly Commons effort. It is a crucial step towards supporting the research efforts of scholars as well as building the infrastructure needed in the University Library."
