The primary mission of the Illinois Natural History Survey Library is to support the research needs of the Illinois Natural History Survey staff. Since the INHS Library is also a unit of the Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, it also supports the information needs of the faculty and students. The INHS Library's holdings can be found on the UIUC Library's online catalog and INHS Library users are subject to the University's rules and regulations. The public is welcome to use the library but must have a University courtesy borrowing card in order to check out materials.
The collection includes over 69,000 books and bound journal volumes providing national and international coverage on all aspects of natural history. Click here for the INHS Library's collection statement. Strong subject areas include:
The INHS Library currently receives over 650 journals through subscription or exchange with over 2,000 serial titles. Most journal runs go back to volume one. The INHS library's serials list can be accessed through the online serial database.
