This exclusive collection of databases is indispensable for researchers of fish and
fish culture. Distinguished files from around the world provide almost 400,000 citations and some
abstracts on all aspects of ichthyology, fisheries, and related aspects of aquaculture. Major
topics include culture and propagation, limnology and oceanography, genetics and behavior, natural
history, parasites, diseases, habitat management, fish processing/marketing, general research, and
fisheries management. More than 13,500 records are added per year.
Dates of Coverage: 1971 & earlier to present
Helpful Feature: Switch to a higher search mode without losing your search strategy. Begin in
the Quick mode and see how your search strategy is transformed into Boolean format when you switch
to the Advanced mode. (NOTE: This feature does not work when switching to a lower search
mode.)
Wildlife & Ecology Studies Worldwide is the largest index to literature on wild
mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians; it includes almost 600,000 bibliographic records and many
abstracts. The databases in this exclusive collection offer a global perspective and together form
the ultimate resource on wildlife information. NISC's unique composite records feature ensures
access to all the citations without duplication. All aspects of wildlife and wildlife management
are covered in this comprehensive volume. Approximately 18,000 records are added per year.

Helpful Feature: You can export your search
results using ProCite, Reference Manager, EndNote, or RefWorks. Use the Tutorial to find specific
instructions about exporting.
How to Access
BiblioLine databases can be accessed from campus terminals or remotely. Off-campus access
requires NetID and Password.
From the main Biblioline page, click on the database you want to use, or select multiple
databases and click
Continue to search databases simultaneously.
How to Search
Quick search (default mode)
- To search by keyword or phrase: Use the top box. Type in a phrase like "endangered species."
Click
Search on the right.
- To narrow your search: Change the drop-down menu on the second line to "and-ALL words."
- Use limit fields to search by author, publication year, name of journal, publisher, ISSN, or
ISBN.
- Combine fields with keyword or phrase using AND, OR, or NOT.
- Top right hand corner of the screen gives a total number of records retrieved with your
search.
- To change the search mode, click on the
Change Search & Display Level button on the right.

Advanced search mode:
- This is a complete guide to all the database search fields.
- You can search database fields separately or in any combination.
- Use the Key Words/Phrases text box to type in a phrase like "grizzly bears OR brown
bears."
- Use the other text boxes to narrow your search to a specific journal, geographical area, and/or
publication year.

Analyzing Your Search Results

Display
Your search results will be listed in the display area.

Format
Using the "select Display Format" drop-down menu, select all citations, all citations +
abstracts, or all full records. Along with some citations, you can view a Database record with
full-text or a link to the text, a web site, or more information.

Sort
Sort retrieved records by using the "select Sort Field" drop-down menu.

Marking
Mark records to select records from your search results. You can click on the check
box to select the record or click the
Mark ALL Records button at the bottom of the page.

Record Output
Use the "select Output Format" drop-down menu to choose what information you want
to record. After selecting an output format, click on print, email, save, or export. You can export
by downloading records into citation management software like RefWorks, ProCite, Reference Manager,
or EndNote.
You can export by using a generic 2-character field tag format. Or you can export using the
NISO Z39.80 standard. Use the Tutorial to find more detailed information.
